My name is Marissa Saenz and my mother is of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and my father is of the Yoeme tribe. I am a senior veterinary student at Western University of Health Sciences in California and I had the wonderful opportunity of pursuing my passion for veterinary medicine and helping those in need. I participated in the San Carlos Apache RAVS trip in the summer of 2015 with a team of excellent veterinarians, vet techs, students and volunteers who provided pet care for those families on reservations who have very little means. That trip reminded me that I was given the opportunity of pursuing my dreams to become a veterinarian, so that I may give back to other Native peoples providing their pets with much needed veterinary services. In return these families give me inspiration and reassurment that despite any hardships, there are people who will do whatever they can to ensure their furry-babies and families are well taken care of. Please help me in my journey to give these families basic veterinary care!
