In September 2015 I had the priviledge of being included on a team from Above and Beyond Cancer as we traveled on a mission trip to Nepal. We had the oppurtunity to visit two cancer hospitals in the Kathmandu area and to spend time with cancer survivors and care staff. Their stories were both heartbreaking and heartwarming as they struggle to recover from devastating earthquakes earlier this year, and provide quality cancer care in a country with very limited resources. Despite their turmoils, they have an enduring spiirt of hope and a feeling of blessedness. Our trip has since inspired several projects to help individual patients and to provide support efforts to the cancer hospitals there.
In working to improve the lives of cancer patients on the other side of the world, this trip is also tied to improving the lives of cancer patients in Iowa. We've had genourous sponsorship for this trip already, and as I hope to support the people of Nepal, I'm asking for your support to the YMCA-Above +Beyond Cancer Survivorship program here.
