Fundraising for the surgery Mark
Organized by: Erik Uzbekov
EVENT DATE Jul 21, 2015
Dear friends, good afternoon, we are from Russia.
Shock, despair, attempts to understand: ”Oh my God, why????” are all over. Now it’s time to look ahead, moreover the time is inexorably short.
Mark, our little son, has serious problems with his eyes. We can’t yet definitely estimate the degree of the vision loss, but our doctors’ opinions sound deplorable. We’ve been everywhere, visited all the best clinics of Russia, but we had the same answer – “we can’t do anything in this case, go home and stay under the medical supervision at your place of residence”.
It’s not their child, it’s not they who wonders everyday “Have I done everything to help my son?!” We don’t give up.
We were in touch with many doctors throughout the world, we made requests to the clinics of Germany, Israel, Switzerland and USA… The case is really serious, - replies from clinics were short and ruthless.
The only reply like a flash of hope, at which we naturally leaped, came from the Kellogg Eye Centre Clinic, - “come for examination, you have chances, but you should hurry up, you have only 6 months, then the irreversible processes will start”. YES, YES, YES, thank you God!!!! We tried to do everything as fast as possible, US visas, we sold everything that could bring money fast, and naturally, MANY thanks to our Friends, they helped us a lot, thanks again! Gulnaz, our mom, and Mark flied to USA in October, 20. Our story has begun and hopefully it will have a happy end.
On April, 5, they returned from the clinic. Everything has gone well, the doctor is pleased with the results of the performed surgery. We have loads of impressions! The medicine level surely impresses. You can see that the considerable funds are invested and that the effect of investments is obvious. Huge spacious buildings, a lot of specialists and equipment, looking at this equipment you can’t believe your own eyes how well the personnel is equipped. You grow calmer when everything is done wisely and everyone does his job following the rules.
While surveying Mark during the pre-surgical examination, doctor Besirli (God grant him good health – he has gifted hands) asked us the bewildering question: “Can he see the light, what do you think?” We started producing different arguments confirming the reaction of our little son on the light, but we were naturally puzzled with the question. The first surgery was made on the left eye and lasted for 5 long hours. The next day during the first post-surgical examination, the doctor habitually took the flashlight and started surveying the patient, and then… as soon as he approached the flashlight, Mark shortly jerked back his head! We even jumped of surprise. The doctor’s face shone: ”This is a very good reaction”. It was enough for us, parents, to be happy. It is the obvious treatment progress. The doctor recommended us to take the rehabilitation period for adaptation of the brain and eye structure and then to come for the next treatment stage in the end of July 2015.
Dear friends, we announce the next stage of the fundraising for the III stage of treatment of Mark Uzbekov in the Kellogg Eye Center clinic, University of Michigan. The sum for gathering is $34 000 before the end of July 2015. We ask you for the any adequate support! Each donation can help our little son to acquire vision. Thank you in advance for your kindness and sympathy!
