Marley & Me
Marley was diagnosed with a mammary tumor last week on my birthday. Further tests showed there's also neurological damage, which is why a CT scan is now required. I was able to get her through most of the tests, about $1000 worth, and now she needs the CT scan to determine the best course. Without the CT scan and further treatment it's just a matter of time and keeping her comfortable until I have to do the humane thing to prevent her from suffering. Right now I'm told, and by all appearances, she's in no pain or discomfort.
She came into my life in 2005 on the side of the highway in Florida one day after Hurricane Wilma tore through the state. She was cowering due to a much larger male dog that was circling around her. (link to video of that moment below) We pulled over thinking maybe we could take her to a shelter, her sweet demeanor immediatley stole our hearts, and the rest is history.
There's photos & video of her to the left and in the link below you can watch the video of us actually pulling up and rescuing her on the side of the turnpike that day with the big dog in the background, & her walking up to us for the first time. She was covered in ticks and fleas, had bald patches, was mangy and the vet said she was likely being overbred due to her condition. Turned out she got along with my other dog Apache (also a stray rescue from the streets) and she's been nothing short of a blessing in our lives ever since.

Her Current Status and Prognosis
Currently she needs to have a CT scan of her brain to determine what the options may be. Between the CT scans and possible surgery, and/or thereapy procedures needed the cost can run over from $2000 to $3000.
However with possible surgery & thereapy (determined by the CT scan), at this point there is also a good chance she could return to fairly normal motor skills and quality of life, but I simply can't afford the next step, so I set up this campaign and I'm asking my friends, family, and anyone who can assist with a donation of any amount to help me reach the goal of $3000 needed to pay for the scan and treatment.
Her next step will be seeing the veterinary Neurologist as soon as possible to move forward with the brain scan, and from there the next step will be determined. Either surgery, and possibly radiation thereapy, or worse case scenario - terminal care.
Short of some of the noticeable effects of the neurological problem such as some disorientation and slower reflexes, she's eating, drinking, and acting normally. She's home with me now and I take her to the park at the end of my street, which she loves, a few times a day. However I'm noticing slight progression of the neurological problems and time is of vital essence.
$2000 to $3000 is what's estimated by the veterinary specialist for the proper scans to diagnose her brain, and follow through with the procedures and therapy that could be required to give Marley her best chance for recovery.
Accountability and Use of Funds
If you know me you know this isn't a scam, and that I'd never ask something like this if I had any other options, however if for some reason I can't raise the amount needed to cover the procedure, or for some reason it doesn't happen, I give you my word that every penny will be used for her medical care, forwarded to another related cause (and documented), or returned.
I can't imagine how I could thank those who can help and do, but I can tell you how eternally grateful I will be to you for your show of support. Thank you for taking the time to read this if you read this far, and if for whatever reason you can't help today, I encourage you to find a cause, project, person, or anything you care about. Take some time or donate to it, help a friend or help a stranger in need.
If you can help Marley today with a donation, I ask you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I'll keep all supporters and anyone interested updated on her condition as things progress, as well a video or pics of her happy moments, which she still has plenty of.
Marley and I, and the friends and family that love her say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read her story, and for any help and support you may be able to offer.
