In India, 47% of girls are married before the age of 18, and 22% become mothers before they turn 18. To reduce the prevalence of child marriage in India, Dasra has identified and partnered with Institue of Health Management Pachod (IHMP) for the Dasra Giving Circle. By working with adolescent girls (both married and unmarried), and also boys and young men, IHMP seeks to empower women and change gender norms in communities to prevent child marriage and improve health outcomes for girls and women. Over the next three years, the Dasra Giving Circle will work closely with IHMP to help it achieve unprecedented scale-up of its work, growing from serving a population of 30,000 to 105,000 people.
Key areas of Dasra's support to IHMP include:
•Leadership training and mentoring to senior management to build a sustainable institution
•Strengthening communication efforts of its impactful work, and providing donors with quarterly, transparent reports of the organization's progress
•Help hiring in management positions to oversee projects and contribute to effective decision making
