Dear friends & family,
For the third year, I am raising funds through the Camp Winston Run-Raiser to fund campers to come to Camp Winston for summer and weekend sessions throughout 2017! Camp Winston, as many of you have likely heard me rave about, fills a gap for youth living with complex neurological disorders, many of whom refer to camp as "a second home" where other campers and staff "feel like family."
Since first working as a counsellor in the teen program at Camp Winston in 2012, I have heard from campers about the immense impacts camp has on their lives: they nurture friendships, feel the support of caring adults to learn new activities, and learn how to speak about their goals and needs, all while feeling included and valued. Camp Winston operates within an ethos of respect for others and the earth, and a vision that it is "direction, not perfection" that supports camper's success. Through engaging with campers and staff, I have personally become a more patient, loving, and communicative person, and I know that this growth is a testament to the values of the Camp Winston community.
No child is turned away from Camp Winston due their caregivers' ability to pay camp fees ($6000 for two weeks) and that is because of the continued financial support of many people who believe in the goals and work of Camp Winston. Please support for me in funding another transformational year for youth at Camp Winston.
