BENEFITING: Martin Richard Foundation
ORGANIZER: Martin Richard Foundation
EVENT: MR8 NYC Marathon
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Martin Richard was the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013. I am running to support his foundation, which promotes peace, community & education. Please consider donating to MR8…..Every donation really does keep the team (and foundation) motivated and inspired to spread this message of peace, community and hope. You will help us cross that finish line on November 6th, 2016. More importantly, your donation will further Martin's message of peace by investing in real programming that is making a difference right now.
Martin was a student in my wife’s first grade class at Neighborhood House Charter School in Dorchester, MA (http://www.thenhcs.org/). Jane, Martin’s sister, was in Kristin’s class the year of the bombing. The tragedy of 2013 struck Boston, Kristin’s school (NHCS), and our community of Dorchester in a unique way. I am running to honor Martin, Martin's school (NHCS), my wife and the city of Boston. I will be running my fourth marathon, 2nd marathon for Team MR8 and first NYC marathon.
The foundation was formed by Bill and Denise Richard to honor their son after the bombing took Martin on April 15th, 2013. The mission is to invest in education, athletics and community to support grassroots peace initiatives. Martin’s spirit lives on and he is doing great things through the foundation. By donating to the team, here are just a few programs your tax-deductible donation will support:
We will wear jerseys that say,"MR8 Peace" on November 6th, 2016. On the back will be our captain's name, "Martin Richard." We will continue to run in his honor to raise money to make a difference in this world...one mile at a time. If you read this, I encourage you to take a minute to donate $26.20
