BENEFITING: Martin Richard Foundation
ORGANIZER: Martin Richard Foundation
EVENT: MR8 NYC Marathon
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
I’m very honored to be running the 2016 NYC Marathon for the Martin Richard Foundation, and for Martin’s message: “No more hurting people. Peace”.
I was only blocks away from Boylston Street, running my first marathon, when the bombs went off in 2013. I didn’t get to finish the race that day, but the event changed me forever and I’ve been running ever since.
I ran the following two Boston Marathons for The One Fund and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, in honor of the bombing victims. And since then, I’ve run two more marathons in Chicago and Burlington, VT.
Running the NYC Marathon has been a goal of mine for the past couple years, and doing it for Team MR8 and for the city of Boston will make it that much more special. The money our team fundraises will honor Martin Richard by being invested in local youth athletics, education and community building.
I'll be training my ass off to reach my running goal over the next few months—but I can't do it alone. I'll be counting on the support of my friends and family to help achieve my fundraising goal of $3,000, and to help this special cause.
Thank you so much for your support! It really means a lot to me and the entire Team MR8 community!
