THE STORY:

The Martin Richard Foundation, in cooperation with the City of Boston, will construct a universally accessible public park and playground on Fort Point Channel, adjacent to the Boston Children’s Museum to honor Martin Richard called Martin’s Park.

Martin, at eight-years-old, was the youngest victim of the Boston bombings on April 15, 2013. In the days after, a photo of Martin holding a poster he made that read “No more hurting people. Peace” became symbolic with the messaging of community, kindness and strength of spirit in Boston and extended to support the meaning of One Boston Day, which is now an annual tradition on April 15th.

Your contributions are needed to help support Martin’s Park. Construction will begin in the Spring of 2017, and it is scheduled to open in 2018. John Hancock Financial is working with the Richard family and the City to establish a new non-profit to oversee the long term maintenance of the Park.

Donations for Martin’s Park are currently being collected through the Martin W. Richard Charitable Foundation, which has tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
