What a race!

Hi Everyone, I will be taking part in the Newport Marathon in October and I have decided I would like to run for a cause. Recently, my uncle was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that attacked his body. The outlook appeared grim as he received a prognosis that he may only have a short time left on this earth. My uncle sought out a program where he could have a surgery through Georgetown University Hospital where he would have multiple organs removed and replaced with healthy, cancer-free organs. He was accepted into the program and all he could do was wait for a donor with a positive match to be found. As time passed by, my family worried he would pass before an organ donor could be found. Two short weeks ago, my uncle received the call that an organ donor had been found and the organs were viable for surgery. He would be undergoing a 10 hour surgery where 4 organs would be replaced. The skilled surgeons worked diligently and the surgery was a success! My uncle entered recovery and has been making excellent progress in the two weeks since his surgery! Organ donation saved my uncle's life. Without the selfless act of giving, my uncle may not have been given a second chance at life. So I would like to run on behalf of organ donation and raise funds for the New England Organ Bank so others may have the same opportunity as my uncle.
