BENEFITING: THE MARY KAY FOUNDATION
Make A Difference!
October is Domestic Violence & Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am raising funds for The Mary Kay Foundation to help fund cancer research, establish and improving women’s shelters and fund programs and organizations that help survivors. I chose to support and raise awareness through The Mary Kay Foundation because it has awarded $40 million in grant money to shelters for women and children in all 50 states since 2000.
Facts: Domestic violence is the No. 1 cause of injury for women ages 15 to 44. These victims suffer emotionally too from depression, anxiety or social isolation. Domestic abuse occurs to women of all ages, income levels and educational backgrounds Many cases of domestic violence go unreported, so statistics are difficult to get. However, the Family Prevention Fund estimates that between 960,000 and 3 million incidents of family violence go on each year. In 2015, the National Census of Domestic Violence Services reports that more than 71,828 victims were served on the day of September 16, 2015. More than 97 percent of your donation dollar goes directly to programs and research. Less than three percent goes to administrative costs. That can only happen because of Mary Kay Inc.’s generous funding. While most nonprofits rely on corporate sponsorships, they still spend anywhere from 15 to 50 percent on overhead and administrative costs.
Thank you for making a difference and being the change the world needs to see!
