Mary’s Center was founded to address the needs of recently arrived immigrants from Central America, and has evolved to meet the changing needs of underserved populations in the Washington, D.C. community. Mary's Center's unique social change model integrates health care, education and social services with the sole purpose of saving lives, stabilizing families, and strengthening communities. We embrace culturally diverse communities and provide them with the highest quality of care. Mary’s Center primarily serves low-income, immigrant families whose linguistic and cultural needs would otherwise go unmet by public or private health care systems. We provide comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral and social services to all participants, regardless of their ability to pay.
The impact of the work of Mary’s Center is visible in every family we serve. We see it in the young mother who is taught parenting skills that help her to raise her child. It is evident in the grandmother who is trained to manage her diabetes so that she can care for grandchildren while their parents work. It manifests itself in the teenager who is taught resilience and coping skills so that they can overcome bullying, do better in school and succeed in everyday life. It is palpable in the mother who received pre-natal care and has a healthy baby. The services that Mary’s Center provides are making a distinct difference not only in the physical health of the individuals we serve, but also in the entire communities where we provide services. Through Mary’s Center’s model of holistic, wraparound care, individuals and families are empowered to lift themselves out of poverty and uplift their communities.
As the future of healthcare hangs in the balance, Mary's Center prepares to safeguard the health of each one of our participants, but we need your help in order to do so. When you give to Mary's Center, you transcend partisanship and you make healthcare equitable, providing a lifeline for our communities’ most vulnerable residents.
