BENEFITING: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
My mom was originally diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2010. She fought and conquered and was cancer free. In 2015 as I was preparing to deploy to Kuwait as a member of the United States Army, I got the call that she wasn't feeling well and that "pesky cancer" was back (her words). I never once saw her sad or scared, she remained positive and strong and fought the fight once again. She wanted to beat it again and get back to work as a nurse so she could continue her life's calling of helping people. Unfortunately, this did not have the same joyful ending and on February 26, 2016, the world lost an amazing woman and heaven gained an angel. Me and my sister are on a mission this year to run 61 runs (5ks, 10ks, half marathons) in her name, one for every year of her life. We are on a bigger mission to raise awareness about Breast cancer and how important the research is so one day this disease wont be able to win anymore. If you feel the same way, please join the fight and donate.
