The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was created in honor of Steven Siller, a NYC Firefighter, who perished in the 9/11 attacks. Steven had just gotten off his shift and was heading to meet his brothers for golf. He heard what was happening at The Towers, and cancelled his golf outing. With his full gear on Steven ran through the Tunnel to the Twin Towers to do what he knew he needed to do. In the event of saving others lives, Steven perished. He was one of the 3,000 who died that day.
Tunnel to Towers, in Steven's honor, now raises money to build smarthomes for our soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan catastrophically injured. These homes help our men and women get back to leading a full and productive life. Each home costs around $500,000 or more, depending on the soldiers' needs. I have met several of the young men who have received a Smart Home and they will tell you it changed their life. I have been to a dedication of a home last September 11 in Cape Coral, Florida. What a beautiful experience.
Please give what you can. I will be running a race in NYC in September through Battery Tunnel, approximately a 5k. All money that I raise will go directly to Tunnel to Tower Foundation.
