BENEFITING: Maasai Wilderness Conservation
They say when you step foot in Africa it captures your heart and soul. I can attest to this undeniable force that draws you from the moment you step off the plane. During our visit to Kenya, we had the privilege of visiting one of the local Maasai villages in a remote area of Chyulu Hills. I have a hard time articulating how we felt during our visit....the gentle nature of the people, the purity of their culture and the simplicity of their surroundings. Although what truly captured our hearts were the children and their community. So many children....living and going to school in conditions which frankly seem unfathomable to us. They are what brought me to this very moment in time.....we have decided to start this fundraiser for the CHILDREN of this community. My hope is that we can contribute, as small as it may seem, to these children's future. Whether that be buying pencils and paper, shoes for them to walk to school in, age appropriate books, or a clean uniform for them to wear. As simple as this may sound, it is these simple things which are not available to them. We saw children walking miles to get to school with no shoes, children trying to learn in class with no paper or pencils, and children wearing uniforms that had holes all over them.
I understand that many would say there are many children all over the world living in these conditions....but my response is we must start somewhere. If we can change the destiny of one child we have made a difference.
