BENEFITING: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Ever since I can remember, I have watched the Boston Marathon with my family and friends. I could feel the excitement and determination of these runners radiating through the television. I dreamed of being one of those runners. Now, my dream has become a reality and words can’t describe how excited I am to be given this opportunity!
The transition from swimmer to runner has not been easy. As I challenged myself to run longer distances, I have been faced with multiple physical setbacks; some days finding the motivation to continue is difficult, but I am determined to run the Boston Marathon. I remind myself that there is going to be a day when I will no longer be able to run, so run now because you can. I am running the Boston Marathon for those who can’t, and especially for those who can only dream.
The effects of cancer can be extremely detrimental to the body and the mind. The impact, not only on the individual, but also on their loved ones is tragic. Imagining how family and friends cope when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer is heart wrenching, and it’s inconceivable if the battle is lost. Working at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), I see children coming from the cancer center every day. These children have lost a piece of their innocence, the feeling of being invincible; they feel pain and know their future is uncertain. I am proud to be supporting the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Program at MGH for Children (MGHfC) that helps countless children live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
It is an honor and a privilege to run the marathon in the incredible city of Boston as part of the MGH team! Please support me in reaching my goal of $5,000 for MGHfC so these children who have aspirations of one day running the Boston Marathon or anything else they wish to achieve, can live their dream, like me!
All donations are greatly appreciated. 100% of the donations are directed to care, cutting edge research initiatives and therapeutic play to enhance the quality of life and improve the cure rates for MGHfC’s young cancer patients. Thank you for your support.
I hope to see you as I run the 26.2 mile route on April 20, 2014! Boston Strong! MGH and Boston...Together We Finish!
