EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Last year, when I signed up to run the 2014 Boston Marathon for the Massachusetts Hospital Pediatric Cancer Center, I didnt really realize what I was getting myself into. I've long thought that running the Boston Marathon would be the ultimate athletic accomplishment. It may be that, but the entire experience changed my life forever...so much so, that I'm doing it all again this year!
Last year I wrote about how special this experience would be for me. And boy, was it ever. I got teamed up with one of the patients in the Pediatric Cancer Center and getting to know him and his family was such an amazing experience for me. My patient partner, Kevin, is doing great and his brain tumor has been in remission since last February. It made it very easy for me to get out and do those training runs in frigid temperatures knowing that a 19-year old kid was battling this awful dissease.
Running that race last April was one of the best days of my life. I saw lots of friends along the route and crossed the finish line in a respectable 4 hours 40 minutes. This year I wont be stopping to take selfies with friends and family along the route, so i hope to improve my time. But it isnt about the time. Its about raising money for these CHILDREN that are bravely fighting this terrible disaease. Every dollar our team raises will go directly to helping improve the lives of these young patients.
Please consider making a donation to my fundraiser page. I appreciate each and every person that makes a donation.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
