BENEFITING: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
This will be my 15th and FINAL marathon. While running marathons initially started as a bet, it became a serious philanthropic pursuit for me.
This year, I am dedicating this run and celebrating the life of my father, Skip Joyce, who passed away a year ago on April 20th.
My dad was a grateful recipient of the care he received at Massachusetts General Hospital. Over the years, I witnessed first-hand the high level of care and compassion that MGH staff shows all patients and their loved ones.
In addition to the care he received, my dad was an enthusiastic supporter and dedicated volunteer of cutting edge stroke research. In my dad’s memory and his legacy of giving back, I ask you to join me in my final “trot to Boston” by making a generous contribution to MGH in support of their efforts to fight Childhood Cancer. The funds raised by the marathon team will support the work of The Child-Life program, an innovative and essential program providing services such as therapeutic play, massage, acupuncture, music and art therapy to pediatric cancer patients.
I want to thank everyone for their support and all the memorable steps we have shared over the years! This year’s marathon will be especially difficult for me but as I hear the crowd roar
“Let it Rip for Skip”, I will be beaming with pride.
