BENEFITING: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 16, 2012
On April 16, 2012 I am running the Boston Marathon for the 4th time as a member of the “Massachusetts General Hospital (“MGH”) Marathon Team.” Team members are partnered with MGH pediatric cancer patients and commit to raise money to support childhood cancer research at the hospital. Over the past 3 years, I have raised approximately $10,000 from supporters like yourself who want to help eradicate life-threatening childhood diseases. The cure rates for childhood cancer have increased from 50 to 85 percent during the past two decades and will only continue to improve with your donation.
My patient partner Tommy was treated for leukemia as young child and experienced several serious recurrences. Today, Tommy is an active, healthy sixteen year old anxiously waiting to get his license. Tommy is just one of many MGH success stories!
The “Team” was created in 1998 by Howard Weinstein, MD, chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, as a way to honor the brave young patients facing their own marathon each and every day as they struggle to live long and healthy lives. The funds raised by the Team go directly to the Pediatric Hematology – Oncology Division at MGH and help support pediatric cancer research, the child life program which helps patients cope with illness and treatment, art and music therapy, and, support groups for patients and their families.
Every gift counts and you too can be part of the “Team” and improve the lives of children with cancer. Will you support me? Together we can make a difference! To support me, Tommy, and MGH, please donate directly on this site or mail a check made payable to “Massachusetts General Hospital” to me at 66 Maple Avenue, Atkinson, New Hampshire 03811. If you have any questions, call me at 603-553-0955.
