Masshole Muddahs for Matt
Organized by: Dan Cooper
Calling all Muddahs!
March 10, 2016
EVENT DATE May 07, 2016
I am dedicating my participation in the Tough Mudder to my tough-as-nails cousin, Matt DeLeo. Matt was diagnosed at a young age with a genetic kidney disease known as Alport syndrome -- a disease that currently has no known treatment or cure. While his medical insurance will cover much of the transplant, there are numerous additional costs and unforeseen expenditures. Alleviating some of the stress associated with the financial burdens that accompany this condition would help Matt and his wife Jessica dedicate more energy towards finding a donor match. All donations received here will go directly to the outstanding GoFundMe page created by Matt's parents.
In addition to raising funds, we would also like to continue raising awareness. There is such a large percentage of people in this country living with kidney disease that need help. And there are more people that need kidneys than actual organs available for transplant. As well, there is not nearly enough research funding for cures to some kidney diseases like Alport syndrome. If you would consider exploring the possibility of giving the ultimate gift, please visit: http://www.emoryhealthcare.org/transplant-kidney/living-donor/index.html or call the Emory Hospital Transplant Center at: 1-855-366-7989.
And last but not least, if you would like to participate as part of the team in the Tough Mudder, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can send you team invite with your registration. Strength in numbers! Please note, entry fee into Tough Mudder event does NOT go toward this charity. But you can leverage your commitment in this grueling (yet rewarding) experience to encourage pledges and raise further awareness. As always, make sure you read the health disclaimers if you are considering the event.
