EVENT DATE: Feb 01, 2013
I’m excited to participate in the second annual Mather Classroom Champions program to help raise funds for an elementary school in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. In fact, the Mather Elementary School has the distinction of being the first public elementary school in North America.
During these challenging economic times, schools are struggling to do more with less. The recession takes a particular toll on schools like the Mather that serve primarily low-income families. Now, more than ever, the Mather needs support from the community to help students overcome obstacles to reach their personal and academic potential.
For a glimpse of the wonderful children who attend the Mather, be sure to watch the YouTube video on this page.
As a Mather Classroom Champion I am dedicated to help raise funds for Laurie Davis' kindergarten class.
Kindergarten teacher Laurie Davis has been working at the Mather for 5 years. Her ideal classroom would have the latest technology, healthy snacks, and active parent volunteers, because "22 kindergartners need more 'TLC' and attention than one person can give."
Ms. Davis hopes the donations will help with her classroom wish-list which includes computers with speakers and headphones, a CD player, puzzles, musical instruments, and art supplies such as sketch books, glitter glue and craft kits. She hopes to expand her students' access to after-school arts programs with theater, dance, music, visual arts and crafts.
Here's how you can help:
- Make a tax-deductible donation today.
- Encourage your friends and family to make a donation.
- Sign up to volunteer by contacting Principal Cox at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please help me ensure that the students in Laurie Davis' class have the tools and resources they need to learn well every day.
Your donation will make an immediate, meaningful impact in these students’ lives.
