Matt Englander and Dan Plato
Matt Englander and Dan Plato are next door neighbors, running partners, and friends for 25 years. We have been interested in running a marathon together for a couple of years and the opportunity to run NYC and raise money for a cause that is personally important to both of us is too great to pass up.
Dan has been running his whole life: a successful cross country career at Walsh Jesuit, Cleveland full marathon in 2011, and several half marathons already completed.
Matt has only been running seriously for two years, completing three full marathons since July 2012 (San Francisco 2012, Miami 2013, Huntington WV 2013.)
In September 2011 Matt was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was successfully removed and all check ups have been clear since surgery. The support from friends and family has been incredible and no friend has been a bigger part of everyday life, recovery, and support than Dan.
Simply put, the chance to run the NYC marathon is exciting, the ability to raise money for the Brain Tumor Foundation is critical, and the opportunity for Matt and Dan to do this together is special. Thank you for supporting us.
