Matthew 25: 14-30 - to reduce our church's mortgage
Organized by: Nan Klee
On May 15, 2016, the pastor of Seymour Heights Christian Church presented a message based on Matthew 25: 14-30, called the Parable of the Talents (or the parable of the bags of gold). In this parable, a master gives three of his servants 1, 2 or 5 talents, (or bags of gold). While the master was away, the servant with 5 talents doubled his master’s money, as did the servant who was given 2 talents. This pleased their master, but the one who was given 1 talent buried it the ground until his master’s return, not even banking it to receive interest. His master, very displeased, gave that talent to his servant who had 10, and threw the unprofitable servant into the streets. My pastor then challenged us to take one of the available envelopes (each contained $20 to $50 in cash) and invest it. Like one of those faithful servants, we were challenged to grow that money, though any legal means, to experience that parable first hand. I drew a $30 ‘talent’. I hope to raise that amount one hundred-fold, which means raising $3000.00 for my church by November 1, 2016. All money collected will be given to Seymour Heights Christian Church of Seymour, TN, to reduce (and hopefully eliminate) the mortgage on the church's property. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly.
