BENEFITING: The V Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 05, 2017
“Whaddaya Gonna Do?”
My Uncle Jim’s reaction, after being diagnosed with brain cancer nearly 8 years ago. Every person reacts in his own way to a cancer diagnosis. Uncle Jim didn’t feel sorry for himself, instead he chose to fight, to remain positive, and to not let cancer control his life. Those who were fortunate enough to know Uncle Jim witnessed first-hand how he fought cancer, in the same manner in which he lived his life; with a can-do attitude and passion, enjoying his time with family and friends. Uncle Jim battled his disease for over 2 years with courage and grace. He was fearless; a model for me and my family.
The V Foundation, created by ESPN and the late basketball coach Jim Valvano, sponsors annual events - from which it donates 100% of its proceeds to cancer research in an effort to eradicate this horrible disease.
I joined “Team V” to support cancer research and will run the 2017 New York City Marathon to honor my Uncle Jim who was taken from us 6 years ago. Uncle Jim had a passion for running. His passion for running and his strength in the face of his illness made my decision to work for Team V, and for cancer research, an obvious one.
I sincerely hope that you will consider donating to the V Foundation. Your generosity will help bring us that much closer to finding a cure for this horrific disease. Cancer in its many different forms affects all of us.
I would be honored to represent you, your loved ones and friends as I run the NYC marathon. For any donation you can provide, please include the initials of your loved one(s)/friend(s) in the donor comment section below. For my part, I will proudly write their initials on the running shoes I will be wearing when I run the marathon.
Thank you to everyone who visits my fundraising page, and is so kind and generous to donate to the cause! It means the world to me and to those determined to defeat cancer in our life time.
