BENEFITING: NEW YORK CITY CHARTER SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
EVENT DATE: Sep 25, 2016
Dear Family and Friends,
Despite a growing body of research showing the positive impact of focused artistic study on academic achievement (see 1), public school education has struggled to comprehensively integrate arts education in the school curriculum to make it more broadly accessible.
I'm extremely proud to be associated with the New York City Charter School of the Arts, the first arts-based charter middle school in Manhattan, that sets out to fill this void and enable students of all backgrounds to benefit from engaging in the arts and thereby improving their academic outcomes. The school was founded by a group of highly motivated, hard-working and experienced individuals and is about to open its doors in lower Manhattan welcoming roughly 100 students for its first academic year. As a public school available through a lottery to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds, New York City Charter School of the Arts depends on public funding and charitable donations. Please support me in my cause of raising money for New York City Charter School of the Arts for which I have committed myself to entering one of the longest one day bike races in New York state this fall.
On Sunday, September 25th I will be doing the New York City 200k (http://www.active.com/new-york-city-ny/cycling/races/new-york-city-200k-2016) cycling 200km (124 miles) from New York City to Bear Mountain, through Harriman State Park and back the New York City (route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/5544829). Thank you for your support!
