Matt's Marathon Mission
Organized by: Matt Mckeever
November 07, 2016
EVENT DATE Nov 06, 2016
This November I'm running my first marathon in NYC.
I'd like to dedicate my efforts to some special friends and family.
The three charities I'm raising money for are: The Air Ambulance, who helped save my step mum, Nicola's life after a serious brain injury, The Alex Wilson Foundation, set up in memory of my friend who tragically died far too young and The British Heart Foundation, who have helped my friend James Taylor when he discovered that he had a serious heart condition - arryhthmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (AVRC) - which forced him to retire immediately at the age of 26 (and is usually only discovered in a post-mortem).
All of these people have had a profound impact on how I lead my life today and it would mean a huge amount if you are able to donate some money towards these great charities.
Why is $5,533 my goal? Because it's approximately one tenth of the number of steps I'll need to take to complete this marathon!
Training has been a pretty painful experience so far and I know I'm going to need all the motivation I can get in those final miles when I'll hopefully be completing the race.
Thank you so much in advance for your support!
