In 2012 Matthew Olson (Matty) was diagnosed with Autism. We (his parents and support system) have him immersed in as many special learning programs as he can handle in order to learn and grow. Matty is doing great, overcoming his challenges and accessing more of the GIFT he was given (which makes him very special and very smart) as time goes along.
What we have discovered as we have begun advocating for Matty and his personal cause...is how these spectrum disorders are becoming part of the mainstream. The rate is truly alarming. Years ago...at 1 in 2700 children, the government declared polio an epidemic. In the U.S., Autism has gone from 1 in 10,000 children to 1 in 88 (and less than 1 in 50 boys) in just over 25 years! And it is not yet being dealt with as an epidemic!
We now choose to help this fight for so many of the children and families who are not as fortunate as we are...as Matty is. We choose to fight for the families who do not even yet know about the issues their child may have (Matty easily hit all of his developmental milestones until after age 3).
Please consider donating to C.A.D.E. (Children with Autism Deserve Education) through Matty's Puzzle Pack! C.A.D.E. is a non-profit organization that provides funds and resources to families in need and contributes to research as well. Every little bit counts! Please donate now!
Yours in contribution,
Kent, Laura, Matty and Katie (Founding Members of Matty's Puzzle Pack)
