Maura's Chicago Marathon With Team Danny Did
Organized by: Maura Brannigan
As many of you may know, I spent the greater part of my college experience promoting, organizing and fundraising for Northwestern University's iconic Dance Marathon. Since its founding in 1975, NUDM has raised more than $16 million in support of 30-odd beneficiaries. It was NUDM that first introduced me to the Danny Did Foundation, for whom the Northwestern community raised a spectacular $1,214,632 in March 2013. Founded by Chicagoans Mike and Mariann Stanton after the death of their four-year-old son Danny, the DDF works to prevent deaths caused by SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) in children. The foundation's name comes from the last line of Danny's obituary: "Please go and enjoy your life. Danny did." While I was never able to meet him, I can't wait to run these 26.2 miles—my first-ever marathon—for Danny, with Danny and alongside my fellow teammates running with Team Danny Did. I hope you support us, and help me reach my fundraising goal of $1,100.
