BENEFITING: The Chadtough Foundation
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 48
Dear Friends & Family,
This past November my friend and co-worker Amanda Ruddy and her husband, Tom, lost their 5 year old son Tommy to Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and deadly form of pediatric brain cancer. His battle lasted a short 11 weeks due to a lack of treatment options for this devastating disease. Only 1% of all federal funding goes to pediatric brain cancer research so very little to no progress has been made in finding a cure for DIPG.
Just over a year ago, Chad Carr, grandson of former Michigan football coach, Lloyd Carr, lost the same battle. The Ruddy family joined forces with the ChadTough Foundation to raise awareness and improve pediatric cancer research to find a cure. Team ChadTough has formed its first ever marathon team for the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. My long time running partner (Julie Minkow Forstner) and I have joined their team and we’re honored to run the marathon to raise money in Tommy’s memory. We haven’t set any spectacular goals other than we would like to finish the marathon before they take the barricades down. My goal is to raise $2500 for the ChadTough Foundation to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Please join me in the fight against DIPG. Thank you for your support!
