MaxLove Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing families fighting childhood cancers and life-threatening conditions with accessible, practical, and kid-friendly whole-body wellness. We believe that all children deserve every opportunity to thrive against the odds.
We're inspired by hope.
Inspired by SuperMax Wilford, a six-year-old fighting brain cancer, MaxLove Project is a 100% volunteer-driven, grassroots nonprofit organization founded to help SuperKids thrive against cancer and life-threatening conditions. Our mission is to provide families fighting childhood cancers and life-threatening conditions with accessible, practical, and kid-friendly whole-body wellness. Our ultimate goal is to support SuperKids in overcoming the odds—to thrive in treatment and beyond. We believe that all kids should have full access to every cancer-fighting tool available, including excellent nutrition and therapeutic resources such as acupuncture, physical activity, and healing narratives.
Two years ago MaxLove Project's Chief Inspiration Officer, SuperMax, couldn't ride a bike. He was 4 1/2 years old, fighting a brain tumor, working so hard just to walk without losing his balance. After recovering from brain surgery, unable to walk, Max faced down chemotherapy, learned to walk again, and eventually even learned to ride a bike for the first time. Max persevered fiercely, as do all children fighting cancer.
To raise much-needed funds for MaxLove Project's Fierce Foods Academy, and to take advantage of the #STARTARYOT Crowdrise fundraising opportunity, SuperMax challenged his mom to a race. SuperMax vowed to ride his bike at the Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5k race to benefit his hospital, CHOC Children's, only if he could raise enough money in sponsorships to support MaxLove Project's Fierce Foods Academy and only if mom would run against him. Mom accepted the challenge and now you can support the cause and SuperMax's Ride to beat cancer!
MaxLove Project's Fierce Foods Academy
The Fierce Foods Academy is a kid-focused cooking class designed to empower families to incorporate healing foods into their family's wellness plan. Up to 46% of all children fighting cancer suffer from malnutrition, either due to treatment or tumor related challenges. Most hospitals and treatment centers do not yet support integrative oncology for children though these healing therapies are widely used or adults fighting cancer. We advocate for complementary therapies such as acupuncture and healing foods to help kids fighting cancer thrive against the odds. CHOC CHildren's, Supermax's hospital, is one of the few hospitals to support acupuncture for inpatient are. Likewise, the Fierce Foods Academy supports whole-kid and whole-family wellness right at home, from the family kitchen. Thanks for your support!
SuperMax will ride his bike longer than he ever has in order to support children thriving against the odds all across the country for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Please help SuperMax help SuperKids thrive against cancer and sponsor his MAXRIDE to fund the Fierce Foods Academy! Please GO GOLD this September and support kids fighting cancer by sharing this fundraiser far and wide.
