EVENT DATE: Aug 19, 2012
With the deepest sorrow in our hearts, we want to share that we lost our beloved pug Max to liver shunt on April 28, 2012. He was just 3 years and 8 months old when he passed away after 12 days in ICU fighting surgery complications.
All of us remember him as this joyful, young and adorable little fellow; but he had been quietly fighting this deadly liver shunt since he was 6 months old. Up to this point, he had kept strong; but surgical treatment became unavoidable. On April 17, 2012 he went to corrective surgery for his liver problem. He did fairly well with the surgery; however after 2nd day he started developing seizures and showed signs of brain swelling. After 12 days of medically induced sleep and numerous attempts to fight the complications, he unfortunately passed away. Both of us were right there, when he took his last breath. It is one of the most heartbreaking things we ever endured.
It is so surreal, that he is no longer with us. But we know his memory will always be with us. We always felt that he was a special dog. He held a special place in our heart and brought joys to many that knew him. The way he would warm up to people who carried treats to his adorable little rolls for showmanship. And his never ending appetite for baby carrots; those are all just sweet memories that we try to hold on dearly.
It is hard to let go someone when you love them so much, but it sometimes is inevitable. But we know his memory will live on and the best way we think we can prolong this is by helping non-profits who actively try to save thousands of little adorable life just like his. We had the financial means to try the best possible care; however that is not the reality in many cases. Many dogs are euthanized either because the owners do not want to care for them or they don’t have the financial means. Organizations like the Humane Society and the Seattle Pug Rescue do their best to prevent these unfortunate situations. However, they need help from people like you and me to do the best.
In memory of Max, we are raising funds to donate to Seattle Humane Society and Seattle Pug Rescue. We’ll run the campaign till his 4th birthday on Aug 19th, 2012 and donate the proceeds on that day to those organizations. We need you to open up your hearts and wallets for these organizations and to save countless little lives.
