Splash Pad Ribbon Cutting
July 28, 2017
BENEFITING: MAY INSTITUTE INC
Help to make May’s goal to build a splash pad water park and shaded play area a reality for children at the May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Randolph, Massachusetts. The installation of a splash pad will provide a resource for the sensory needs of our students and allow them to explore - light touch to firm touch, dry to wet.
Water play delights the senses but the benefits include far more than just playing in water. The splash pad will be used as a multi-sensory approach to learning for students of all ages and ability levels. Through their interaction with water, students will learn concepts of science and math, such as empty/full, before/after, shallow/deep. By playing with others, the children will develop social skills. Our students will learn through rhythmic patterns and water-based art. And as they play, they will learn problem-solving skills that come along with unexpected situations in a fun and meaningful way.
The splash pad attractions will include rain trees, gentle waterfalls, geysers, sprinklers, and tipping buckets. Your tax deductible donation will allow the May Center School to greatly enhance the therapeutic, recreational, and learning needs of more than 150 students, ages 3 to 22, with autism and other developmental disabilities. #MCRsplashpad
