Chicago has lost over 35,000 trees in the last 10 years due to the emerald ash borer crisis. The emerald ash borer is a small beetle that first appeared in Illinois in 2006. The borer's larvae feed on the inner layer of the tree, making it impossible to transport water and nutrients, eventually killing the tree. Join the Chicago Parks Foundation in putting trees back in our beautiful Chicago parks, in EVERY Chicago community! For every $1,000 donated, a tree will be planted in one of Chicago's parks. May the Forest be with you.
