Mayor Duterte's Campaign Donation Drive
Organized by: Billy Garcia
As early as February last year, 2015, several groups and sectors started urging the good mayor of Davao City in the Philippines to run as president of the republic. This came about because news of how good he handled his city has surfaced and his public service became known to all. He led the city in becoming the 4th safest in the world, achieving a low crime rate, establishing the only 911 emergency service outside North America, making the city a smart one in partnership with IBM, and reaching out to other cities in times of natural catastrophes like the strongest typhoon on earth which struck Tacloban in Leyte province in 2013. All of these became known to many, hence the movement to convince him to run ignoring the fact that he is about to retire from the government this year. The mayor has, on several occasions, declined this urge citing LACK OF FUNDS as a major impediment to his campaign. Why? He has been a mayor for 22 years and he has not enough money to oil a political machinery? It is simply because he considered himself a modest government employee without even a stain of corruption. Given all of these, since we, the people, urged him to run, we at Cavite for Duterte, thought that it is our primary responsibility to campaign for him with our own efforts. That is the story behind this fund raising drive. We hope to effect changes to our country but then we have to do our own share in achieving that. Let us reach out to Mayor Duterte.
