EVENT: NYC Half 2014
EVENT DATE: Mar 16, 2014
Dear Family & Friends,
I have officially joined team "Miles For Paws" at the 2014 NYC Half-Marathon to help raise money for NYC's shelter pets!
Miles for Paws is the animal welfare charity fitness team of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, a coalition of 150+ non-profit shelters and rescue groups working to end the killing of healthy and treatable dogs and cats at New York City shelters (Animal Care & Control of NYC). Since the inception of the Alliance, the euthanasia rate of animals entering into the Animal Care & Control of NYC system has dropped from 74% to 32.5%, and more than a quarter-million lives of furry little New Yorkers have been saved. While this is tremendous progress, more work is yet to be done, and more lives are yet to be saved.
I was inspired to join the Team by my three most favorite furry little New Yorkers, Charley, Larry, and Henry (pictured here), all saved from various shelters and adopted by my loving family. But not all NYC shelter animals are as lucky. The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals is committed to seeing the day when no New York City dog or cat of reasonable health and temperament is killed merely because he or she does not have a home. The goal is to transform NYC into a no-kill community by 2015.
Click the big, blue DONATE button to the right to contribute to the cause. The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Thank you so much for your support!
