BENEFITING: MCCOURT FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: MCCOURT FOUNDATION
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
On Monday, April 17, 2017, I will be running my twelfth Boston Marathon with a goal to raise $25,000 to help fund research in finding a cure for various types of Neurological diseases. I will be running on behalf of the McCourt Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that is partnered with the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and supports the research to find a cure for Alzheimer's, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's.
This year is especially meaningful to me as I will be running in the memory and honor of my mother, Claire Sypek, whom many of you know passed away in August, 2016. My Mom was an extraordinary woman who was focused on her family and friends and fought a valiant battle while suffering from Parkinson Disease and dealing with early signs of Dementia in her final six months. She truly was an inspiration to me and my brothers and she is dearly missed every day.
In addition to my Mom, I continue to run for my sister-in-law and many close friends who battle MS and Alzheimer's. It is a cause that is dear to me as I continue to learn of so many other friends who encounter these neurological diseases. My daily training and running 26.2 miles on Marathon Monday is only a small feat in comparison to those individuals and families that deal with these ailments every day.
I write to you today seeking your financial support in helping me meet my ambitious goal of raising $25,000. I realize you are approached by many friends and family members for a variety of amazing charity and fundraising efforts and causes, so I appreciate any consideration towards my goal. Please know that I am training for all those people you know who might be suffering from or providing care giving to those with Alzheimer's, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's. TOGETHER we can make a difference.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and thoughtfulness.
