Stuff About Me:

Let me begin by thanking you for taking the time to read my profile page.  I only started running a few short months ago.  In that time I have discovered I have been able to run further than I have ever run in my life.  I have decided to commit to the training necessary to complete a marathon.  Having grown up in Boston I had spent my life hearing about street closings and yet again another guy breaking a record or hearing inspirational stories about a father pushing his son in a wheelchair from start to finish AGAIN and many more. Then one year, while working in the city, being a few miles away and hearing the news reports and seeing the chaos that day and the following days of the bombings and having the same emotion as David Ortiz. I will save you the profanity but I felt violated, how dare they in my city?!  All the while never thinking I could or would ever be able to entertain the idea of completing such a distance in one run for several reasons.  After having battled my own demons for many years finally made a conviction that stuck I decided to begin a healthy lifestyle that included quitting smoking among many other very unhealthy habits. Since then I've begun playing underwater sports, running with my best friend and my dog along with many other healthy lifestyle changes.  In the past few months realized that running marathon distance was possible and thinking WOW Boston is a possibility for me!!  Beyond that it brings me to the charity I am running for.  Hole In The Wall is the one charity that accepted me to run on their behalf.  Having no marathon distance runs at the time I was accepted they took me anyway.  Once I started to really read into what it is they do I thought it couldn't be any more perfect of a situation.  They do things for children that are sick, disabled and in many other circumstances that keep them from 'normal' lives.  The childrens' lives are dramatically impacted by Hole In The Wall in such a way that they themselves are impacted as well as their siblings, parents and everyone around them.  I myself had handicapped myself mentally and physically from ever achieving a goal of running a marathon while these children are handicapped and ill not of their own doing.  By my deciding to make those changes to my lifestyle WE, by donating money to this charity, are negating some of those barriers they face at a 'normal' life.  I would like to close by saying thank you again for taking the time to donate to my charity fundraising page.
