BENEFITING: PRAYERS FROM MARIA FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: PRAYERS FROM MARIA FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2013
This October I will be running my second Marine Corps Marathon. I will be blending my love of running with my dream to end childhood cancer. I will run in support of Prayers for Maria, an organization that supports research and funding for children's Glioma cancer.
Thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer each year. One-third of those children are diagnosed with brain tumors, and nearly half of those brain tumors are gliomas. Over 97% of children with the worst of the gliomas, diffuse pontine gliomas, die within three years. I cannot ignore this shocking statistic, and I hope that you won’t either. I need your support.
I will be running to help raise money for glioma research. My goal is to raise $700 in donations for the Prayers From Maria Children’s Glioma Cancer Foundation. I would like your support in my mission to raise funds for research that is so desperately needed!
The money will go to the Prayers From Maria Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit charity, to fund research for pediatric high-grade gliomas. The mission of Prayers From Maria is to fund global research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for the deadliest childhood brain tumors known as gliomas, as well as raising public awareness about gliomas and bringing hope to children and their families who deal with the hardships of this disease.
Please support my efforts for this important cause by making a donation to my online fundraising page, http://www.crowdrise.com/fundraiser/edit/mcm2013-sunflowerstriders/laurieferguson1
