BENEFITING: New England Center and Home for Veterans
EVENT DATE: Oct 25, 2015
Thank you very much for all your continued strong and generous support as the New England Center for Homeless Veterans (NECHV) works to support Veterans and raise resources and awareness.
Once again, I am planning to strap on the running shoes and try to complete a marathon for Veterans – this time the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC.
I have been afforded the chance to run in the 40th Marine Corps Marathon, on October 25th, and have been training to complete the course on behalf of the NECHV, and to help raise money for the Veterans the Center serves. If I can cover the 26.2 miles, and complete the race; it will mark 38 years from my first marathon, and my first running the Marine Corps Marathon in 1977.
It has been three years since I last ran a marathon to support Veterans and the Center, and the distance seems as daunting as ever; but I am inspired by the fact that in comparison to the challenges faced by so many Veterans, it is a slight hurdle.
I am looking forward to being at the starting line in Washington, DC later this month. And with the goal of supporting those who have served this country, crossing the finish line for Veterans, 26 miles later.
