BENEFITING: Nomi Network
Dear friends and family,
Although my birthday is not for another month, but I am writing to invite you to a party like one I have never had before. I decided that instead of celebrating my birthday this year with food, drinks, or gifts, I would like to direct the generosity you have always shown me towards a worthy cause. Therefore, I created a birthday fundraiser event for Nomi Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending human trafficking.
Nomi Network defines human trafficking or modern day slavery as the condition of being held against one's will for the purpose of economic exploitation. Modern day slavery can be seen in the cocoa fields of Africa, within the walls of illegal brothels in Asia, and in the homes of wealthy diplomats who use domestic servants in the U.S. When defining the term, it is important to recognize that this crime does not always involve the movement of the victim from one country to another country.
Nomi Network focuses on increasing the financial independence of women who are vulnerable to trafficking. Its goal is to increase capacity for employers to provide living wages to populations women at-risk and survivors of human trafficking. Nomi create jobs for survivors of trafficking or women at risk by creating demand for the "Buy Her Bag, Not Her Body" product line. Nomi's goal is to create 100,000 jobs by 2025.
You can learn more about Nomi Network by visiting their website: www.nominetwork.org
It's very simple how you can participate: if you plan on celebrating my birthday with me by buying me a drink or meal, instead of doing so I humbly ask you to donate the money to Nomi. Better yet, if you are compelled to give more, I would be very grateful.
My goal is to raise $1,000 by August 1, which is one month after my birthday. If you would like to, I'll also receive a birthday punch for each dollar you donate... But please be gentle, I still need to study for the bar exam this summer!
Love and Blessings,
