Marshall Direct Fund seeks to empower and educate women and girls in Pakistan with the goal of large-scale, long-term economic growth and greater international security. We invest in education and women’s economic empowerment for a more peaceful world: through our primary schools and vocational training program, we give young girls and women the tools to learn, grow and create their own secure future.
With your support and in conjunction with our local affiliate, Moqah Foundation, we invest in teacher training, scholarships for students, classroom development and school uniforms (often the only clothing students have). We also oversee the implementation of a curriculum that covers applicable subjects and fosters critical thinking. Our virtual exchange program, Global Kid Connect, links students in Pakistan and the U.S. by providing cultural, educational and social connections. Our Vocational Training and Entrepreneurial Skills Program provides young women ages 14-35 in Pakistan with vocational training and business skills. Pakistani women and girls are provided with tools to build or start their own enterprises and to develop market linkages in order to expose their products and services to larger domestic and/or international marketplaces. Our partner Peace of the Action recently launched Her Own Two Feet to distribute embellished flip-flops created by our first class of vocational training graduates.
The Marshall Direct Fund is named in honor of the Marshall Plan. Just as George Marshall recognized the great need to invest in war-weary people and ventures abroad, we believe that supporting people in need of education and economic opportunities allows them to choose peace and prosperity over violence and despair. We do not invest in building, bricks and mortar…we invest in human capital.
