About the Mount Desert Island Historical Society
The Mount Desert Island Historical Society fosters meaningful engagement with the histories of Mount Desert Island. This year, the funds we raise will support our Visiting History Scholars who have come from The University of Maine, College of the Atlantic, and the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. These students have helped us redesign our website, write a strategic plan, design exhibits, and uncover hidden archives to reveal new interpretations of the past. Your support will help us carry this work forward.
On race day listen for our percussion ensemble and rock band at the Old School House & Museum on Sound Drive in Mount Desert, near mile 18 of the Marathon, or mile 6 of the Half-Marathon.
The Mount Desert Island Marathon, Half-Marathon & Team Relay is pleased to help support MDI Historical Society.
