We are students at the International School of Boston who are raising $5,000 to buy and install a solar-powered water filtration system for an orphanage being built in Solabasti, India. Plain and simple, this means clean water for the girls who will live there, the students who will study in the classrooms being built, and hopefully some of the families of the local village.
This is a new initiative and the 4th building being constructed through the efforts of Homes of Hope- India (http://www.homeofhopeindia.org) which helps the Salesian Sisters with their work in many areas of India. They have put up a separate website to provide more information and to track progress on the fundraising. Letsbuildanorphanage.com
They have been building orphanages since 2006. Solabasti is a region in India which is very impoverished, and this home will rescue girls who are poor, sick, abandoned, and vulnerable- and give them a safe home.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1) We are accepting donations of absolutely ANY amount, 5$, $10, $15, anything! Lots of small donations could really add up, hopefully to somewhere around $5000.
2) These donations are 100% tax deductible (which can be important if you make a BIG donation...) Homes of Hope- India is a 501(3)c charitable organization.
3)Feeling a little ambitious? Become one of our team members. You can send out our fundraising page to all your friends and family, and raise any amount of money of your own.
Some people want to help with the problems of the world, but don't know how to get started. This is how we are starting! Together we can make a difference.
We are the difference.
