On April 16, 2016 coastal Ecuador was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The quake was felt throughout Ecuador as well as in the neighboring countries of Peru and Colombia. Over 650 people have been reported dead, thousands are injured, and hundreds more are missing. Many families have lost their homes and livelihoods. Neighborhood schools and hospitals have also been destroyed. Children and families have been displaced and are at great risk for long-term negative social and medical outcomes. Compounded by preexisting poverty and social disparities, these children are vulnerable to disease, exploitation, and despair. In response to this devastating earthquake, FIBUSPAM has established a special program to meet the emergency housing, medical, and social needs of Ecuadorians who have been impacted by this devastating earthquake. We have already provided medical care, water, and basic supplies to over 1,000 earthquake victims and we need your support to continue our urgent aid to families who have been impacted by this devastating earthquake. This January a group of Physicians Assistants, Doctors, Nurses, and Public Health professionals will be traveling with FIBUSPAM to serve the medical and social needs of Ecuadorian Earthquake victims in need. Please support our efforts in helping these people rebuild their lives and their health.
