When Lucy's owner passed away, the remaining family refused to provide even the most basic of care for this poor Coonhound. She was left chained in their backyard with no food or water or attention of any kind. Neighbors reached out and were eventually able to take the starving dog into the AARF program. At the vet, Lucy is receiving food, water and getting the attention she needs. She is extremely dehydrated, emaciated and infested with parasites, including several types of intestinal worms and heart worms. She has several sores on her back legs and rear in part from lack of padding. She will need to regain some of her health before undergoing the difficult process of heartworm treatment. AARF will place her in foster care as soon as she can leave the vet, where she can undergo the treatment she needs in a loving home. Many thanks to everyone who cared enough to help bring Lucy to a safe place, where she can heal and eventually find her perfect forever home, where she will be loved and cared for the rest of her life. It truly takes a village. Lucy's recovery is going to be very long and difficult. Her veterinary bills will be very expensive. If you are able to contribute to this effort, please donate. All donations go directly to AARF.
