Medical Mission to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
Organized by: Miro Paridis
EVENT DATE Jan 08, 2017
Hola amigos! We are a group of 17 physician assistant (PA) students from the University of Bridgeport. This January, we are planning a medical mission trip back to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala where we will be working in a local clinic that provides free health care to underprivileged families. Along with our faculty Dr. Monica Lockwood and two nurses experienced in medical missions we will be providing check-ups to neonates and children, checking vital signs and counseling patients on healthy lifestyle and disease prevention. This clinic is government-run and they are in dire need of our help. Not only are their supplies sparse but they are also under-staffed. We will also be working with a women's shelter and two geriatric homes providing physical exams and patient education to the residents there.
The cost of the trip is quite high so any assistance you are willing to provide will help us to achieve our goal. In addition to the cost of the trip itself, we are looking to raise enough funds in hopes of donating additional medical supplies to provide to the impoverished clinic. If you're interested in more information on how you can help, please contact Miro Paridis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
