MEDICAL MISSION TRIP TO PERU
Organized by: Lauren Clark
EVENT DATE Jun 25, 2016
Family and Friends,
This June for my Public Health Internship, I will travel as part of VCU’s HOMBRE (Honduras Outreach Medical Brigade Relief Effort) team to Pampas Grande, Peru with physical therapy, medical, and pharmacy students, along with licensed healthcare professionals. We organize and run ten-day medical mission trips to assist in the care of local communities that do not have adequate healthcare. We will be doing clinic-based work focused on chronic disease management and acute care, along with community medical screening and research projects. As part of this mission we will not only be providing medical services, but also supplies including medications, blood pressure cuffs, suture needles and thread, dental tools, therapy mats and many other items. I am thrilled that I have been granted this opportunity and I am greatly looking forward to the trip. As a group, however, we have a few hurdles to overcome before we are ready to leave. We are responsible raising all the money for medical supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals that we need for our trip. Last year, the HOMBRE team provided free medical care and health education to almost 700 patients from the poorest regions of the Peru. With your help, my goal is to raise $2,000 for this trip. Your donation will allow me to bring my skills and passion along with needed medical supplies to the people of Pampas Grande.
In appreciation of your generosity, I will keep you informed about the trip’s successes and the people you have helped with your donation. Thank you being part of my team and any support you are able to provide!
