Medical Mission to Chicaman, Guatemala
Organized by: Siomara Guevara
EVENT DATE Aug 28, 2015
Providence Health International is sending a team of volunteers on a Faith in Practice Life Changing Medical Mission in which they will continue their 3 year vision of providing medical relief, medical supplies, education, and public health services to the needy community of Chicaman, Guatemala. The team performs routine medical procedures we take for granted such as hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and obstetrics/gynecology examinations for the poor who would otherwise suffer from these medical complications. While volunteers donate their time and pay their own way for the mission, they still need help in buying the medical supplies they need to perform these procedures. Medicine is expensive, and the more money the team raises, the more resources they will have to use during their mission. Through these efforts Providence Health International hopes to improve population health by reducing malnutrition and diarrheal disease and strengthen health systems by improving local clinics, health care facilities, and developing community health programs.
