Medical Mission to Malaybalay
Organized by: Mary Pecha
EVENT DATE Mar 05, 2016
This spring break, instead of heading for the beach, I want to do something for others. The Philippines is a poor country, especially in the south. There, in a sparsely populated area, is the Malaybalay city jail and local residents whose main medical help comes from mission teams.
For the fifth year, our small college will send a group of volunteer nursing students to Malaybalay, Philippines on a medical mission trip. Our goal is to help with the basic health deficiencies, providing services free to local residents and the inmates. We work with Family Missions Company, a non-profit organization with missionaries living in the Philippines who know the locals and their needs. We'll support the volunteer doctor and nurse to diagnose and give medications, antibiotics, vitamins, and first aid. I will stay at a local convent with a group of religious sisters, eat with them and live like them, if only for a short time.
You can help do a mission from your own home. By your financial support, you will help with the airfare and my portion of the medical supplies. Every donation is appreciated, and I will pray for each of you by name during the trip.
