Michael Nunn is currently inmate #11772030 of the Bruceton Mills, WV. Federal Correction Institution. He is boxing's Champion of World in three weight divisions-middleweight , Super-middleweight, and light- heavyweight. Considered by many fight fans and Sportswriters to be heir-apparent to Sugar Ray Leonard, he won his first thirty-six fights before suffering a defeat. Known as "Second to" Nunn , his career ended in January 2002 with a stellar record of 58-4 with 37 knockouts. Not due to voluntary retirement but an arrest and conviction on a non-violent drug charge, for which he was given an unusually harsh 24-year sentence. He has far served thirteen years in seven different facilities. Despite exhibiting exemplary behavior, he has been subject to taunts and threats from prison officials based on his race, religion. There have also been frequent and arbitrary denials proper medical treatment, phone calls, and commissary access and mail. Last May (2015)Michael was transferred in the middle the night , without warning or provocation, from the Correctional facility in Bastrop ,Texas to the higher-security institution in West Virginia.. Before his two flights, in the middle of the night. His handcuffed arm was twisted at an unnatural angle behind his back, resulting in a wrist injuries and threats of his life if he spoken on this matter. Michael has been denied medical attention to this point. Completely fictitious incidents have been fabricated against Mr . Nunn , alleging his mistreatment of prison staff and he has been repeatedly promised retribution in the form of solitary confinement or physical harm if he makes his situation known. many people have gathered force from all around the world in a grass- roots movement undertaken on their own personal time and at their own expense to champion the cause of Michael Nunn. Not simply because he is a human being worthy and deserving of civil liberties, empathy , compassion, dignity, and the opportunity- and atoned - for his past transgressions and wishes to re-enter society and contribute as a dependable citizen, not to mention once again surround himself with his loving family and grandbabies he has not held. He is welcomed back into the boxing community .His #FREEM2N movement is seeking financial support to assist in the continuation of the fight for a far earlier parole, than his current 2019 release date. President Barack Obama has recently commuted the sentences of dozens of Non-violent drug offenders . Financial support is being sought to assist his counsel obtain outside medical treatment facility as well as working tirelessly toward an early parole.
